Both pictures are very moving, Chris. I too think like Rod that you choose right. \Oved

Gday Chris, I agree with your assessment, I think you have made the right decision in this case the background in the original doesn't support the mood you're trying to convey because of it's snapshot look.. It's a hard time to try & create a photo in those circumstances. Well done on a good entry.

Hey Rich & eosman - Yes, the original definitely tells the rest of the story. It just seemed like such a snapshot to me & not challenge-worthy - maybe some cropping? I went with the ps'd version because it represents my husband's feelings in that moment - he was oblivious to his surroundings and wishing that somehow he didn't have to let go of his father. Thanks for your comments.

I too like the original and I think the child adds innocents (or lack of understanding) to an otherwise sad and emotional moment.

I like the original too as only your husbands face is seen and the background tells a story. It is powerful. Rich

Thanks so much! I struggle so much with photoshop - I still can't figure out layers - and I was able to use the magic lasso to grab everything I didn't want and then I painted it all black. What a kluge! I love the reflected light on his face. I wish his face was in better focus, but I was crying, feeling conflicted about taking a photo at this moment, and holding our youngest daughter while I took the shot. By the way, I loved your "Music for Food" capture -- so beautiful.

waw... very strong and sensitive... on the technical part, I didn't notice it was cut out, great job... now I can see where the shadow on the box comes from....
