Gayle - these books are not that old, late 70s, picked them up at a flea market.
As far cropping and lighting, I am going to rework this image.

Great way of interpret the topic. Too many artifacts for my taste, though. And, are you sure about the top crop?

RK, this is very nice interpretation and the bw makes it more appealing. However I have to agree with Ron about blown highlights. Also see if you can include the top book (DEGA) completely in the picture, that might enhance the composition more IMO. -Cat

The lighting is too harsh for these old books I reckon. I won't mention the Blown Highlight:-)

How old are thse books? One of my interests is collecting antiquarian reference books....I have some from the 1800's and early 1900's. I love your photo cos I love the subject matter, and the lighting gives it added interest.
