I'm doomed to being misunderstood. You got it nearly right (for my tastes) the first time, but just a little too close to the squirrel's rear end. Doesn't matter, however, the photo is still great. Don't worry and I'll quit nagging you :-)

I misread your first suggestion, thought a closer crop from left was what you were saying. How's this one? I was trying for a more vertical feel (climbing direction), not sure which I like better. Not really meant to be too artistic (but suggestions always welcome!).

Hi Tom... sorry to belabor a point but my suggestion to crop 2:3 on this, starting in the upper-right corner, leaves quite a lot more foliage on the left side of this fellow, giving his bum a little more breathing room. I don't think it's mandatory to center the post. Just a thought. Cheers.

Love this photo....very cute.

Tom, This one is funny! I immediately thought of my back yard (er, I mean the squirrels' front yard!) One of the most curious animals I know, would not stop at anything! And you captured the essence of it. BTW this crop looks better :-) -Cat

I cropped some off the left... looks about the same to me. Suggestions always welcome. Thanks - Tom

I think a crop is not necessary. The background adds dimension to the photo.

Great capture. Rich

Funny, excellent shot. Well seen and captured. This is one of those shots that cries out for a different crop, in this case 3:2, starting in the upper-right corner and moving down to the lower left. You cut off a lot of unnecessary scenery on the left and focus even more attention on our friend.

Ha ha, this guy is very funny. Good capture!
