Great shot, Gayle. Everything directs the eyes to the left side of the image where the "boxes" are. Markjay

Thanks Gayle, for clarifying Rod's question. I had guessed the "camera" was your box. (read the second sentence in my previous comment) so, I kind of waited for your response before I said something. I am hoping Rod got his question answered. -Cat

Well, I could have sworn the topic was "Think inside the box", not "What's inside the box". The photographer is looking INTO a box at other boxes....what's he seeing? How is he framing the shot? Can he just see a few boxes, or is he looking at a lot of them?

Well I'll be buggered, I could have sworn Cat's said something about the insides of box's. How do we know these box's have an inside until we look? Still it has Cats approval:-)

The boxes were built by the well-to-do citizens of Brighton in the 1880's. I believe they were used as changing/storage rooms and also for privacy while at the beach. Local by-laws now mean that if any of them fall into disrepair, they cannot be replaced. The boxes are now considered prime real estate and if ay should come onto the market, they are sold for a price most people wouldn't even consider paying for a family home.

Gayle, nice composition: A photograph of boxes and a photographer taking a photograph of the boxes... :-) I like the bright colors! You say there is history behind these. What kind of history? Does anyone live/stay here? -Cat

Historical significance? Are these the beach boxes of "founding convicts"? LOL

Great photo, Gayle. The light is just perfect for this shot.

Alexei, the boxes have historical signifigance and they are listed by the National Trust. They are privately owned and each one of them is worth a small fortune. It's traditional for the owners to paint them in a unique colour scheme, which makes for wonderful photos. This is one of the most photographed scenes in the Melbourne metro region.

Nice evening light and very colorful boxes. Somebody really had guts to paint them like this instead of making them uniform grey or such
