The orange stands out and somewhat diminishes the other elements. Nice image and I love the abstract in the back. Shu

Nice picture. But too busy with lots of elements.

Great mixture of colors and shapes. I have never been to Melbourne, only Sydney and Cairnes. Looks like a place worth visiting

:-) Mary Ann, it means "a fair go" or "be fair" I was referring to Gayle's completely off topic landscape that she posted before & drew red lines all over it to make it on topic:-) So it's OK if this shot gives you a headache it's just that for once Gayle is on topic :-)................ It's normally Gayle that gives me a headache, not her picys:-)

Rod, I don't understand oz-talk. What is "fair suck of the sav"? And I didn't say that Gayle's photo was off-topic, only that the place gave me a headache. :-)

Fair suck of the sav Mary Ann, at least Gayle's got some diagonal lines in this shot:-)

Mary Anne, then you'd best not visit this place cos you'd end up with a migraine. This is probably the calmest, and most co-ordinated section of the square. The rest of it is an even bigger mish-mash of shapes and colours.
Did you know a camel is a horse designed by a committee?

This is no reflection on your photo, Gayle, but the part of the Square shown here gives me a headache with all the mixed patterns and the orange umbrellas that clash with the red bricks. It looks like something designed by a committee full of people who couldn't agree on anything. IMHO.

Gayle you said you think the groom is a mannequin from his white bonce. It may well be a Jewish bloke, do they wear white funny things for weddings:-)
Rod 27-Mar-2005 23:54
No need for your red pen on this shot Gayle, well done.

Nice composition, the grey buildings make a neat background.

I love this place and every time we visit the city we always seem to gravitate here. It's always alive with colour and happenings and I enjoy seeing all that modern architecture rubbing shoulders with historic buildings like Flinders St Station and St Pauls Cathedral. The food served under the umbrellas however, is average at best and according to my husband, not enough on the plate.

We go to Melbourne a couple of times a year for a long weekend and sometimes i think Federation Square is pretentious garbage and other times i think it's fabulous. Depends on the day. I see some poor bugger is getting married but surely that chap isn't allowed to smoke there? Perhaps he's the best man with a touch of nerves.

Nice shot, lots of angles.

Regards
Paul
