These two beautiful ladies watch the Congos and Devils Bi Annual Meeting at Portobello, Colon, Panama. Their mostly black clothes means they're mourning or maybe old widows keeping the mourning clothing tradition.
As you can see, these ladies are dark-skinned, but their facial structure is rather fine, not what you would usually associate with African-Americans, with wide noses, a protrusion of both maxillar and mandible. This indicates that these ladies belong to the "costeņo" ethnia.
The costeņos, or coastal people, are descendants of the "Cimarrones" who were slaves escaped from the Spaniards. Spaniards "mingled" more freely with their slaves than say the English did. Thus they got a mixture of European and African facial traits. Costeņo people are really beautiful people. |
