I won't pretend this has any photographic qualities at all, but I followed the on/off-topic discussion with interest, and decided to upload this one, to see what happens... To me, this picture somewhat captures the "essence" of the small town of Laerdal, innermost in the longest fjord of Norway. It is a sleepy place, whose moment in history, if ever it had one, has long since been forgotten. The steep mountainsides, robbing the place of sunshine for many weeks during the winter, looms above. The population is old. Buildings are old. It is quiet. It's like an eternal Sunday afternoon, after dinner, around three o'clock, when everybody goes in for a nap. (It's not really my home town, but I try to visit every year, the family on my father's side has had the white house for more than a hundred years, so I'm kind of fond of the place, after all.)
But does it convey the eeriness, or is it only me?
