Shuttlecocks *

Larger than life size sculpture of one of the four shuttlecocks on the lawn at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Missouri.
They are made from aluminum, fiberglass-reinforced plastic, and urethane paint by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje Van Bruggen.
Installed in 1994, these sculptures provide a unique view for passerby’s of one of the finest art museums in the Midwest United States.

brian I really like this , really cool shot. we use to go visit family in Kansas City and visit this museum, even had some family portraits that once were displayed in the Bingham wing.

Techo, This wasn’t a composite… The clouds were patchy that day allowing the sun to peak through every now and then. It was taken about 3:30 PM so there was some degree of golden light. My post processing (with PSCS) included: setting the lightest and darkest point with levels, slightly increasing the contrast with a curves adjustment layer, bumping up the saturation a bit, and after resizing I sharpened it with USM 250,0.3,0. Great shot! You just raised the bar here with that shot. Good commentary as well. You know the Shuttlecock is what inspired SpaceShip One's design for re-entry.

forgot to add, the lighting is what I like the most and of course the composition aswell. Just wondering, was this a composite of two different exposures or highlight/shadows tweaked in PS?
