Madrid1*

Madrid, Spain

I understand my assignment as «photojournalist»
was to show the Spanish Capital as a the modern city it is too
instead of emphasizing its usual «Old World» or «Mediterranean» feel... ;-)

Lonnit: For years now, I've been impressed with your urge to comment on all and everything, even if your remarks are on a subject you don't seem to know too much about and that has nothing to do with photography. As far as your personal opinions on modern architecture go, you might want to know that the main buildings of this image—like them or not (that's just a matter of taste)—are all three designed by famous 20th century architects with a worldwide reputation: Francisco Javier Sáenz de Oíza, Minoru Yamasaki and Miguel Oriol e Ybarra. But maybe what you *really* consider to be a nightmare is my way of taking the image...? — db.

Wild. Hey Olaf, how much of an architectural nightmare is that? Probably one of those that the contractor wanted to kill the architect! LOL! ~ Lonnit

This is very interesting db I was in Madrid 30 years ago & your shots were quite a surprise. Like Alexeig I must admit to liking the Mediterranean look but for this challenge it was great to see something new. Well done:-)

Lonnit: The leaning building in the background is the left one of two symmetrical skyscrapers that together form the so called «Gate to Europe» over one of the main roads entering Madrid from the north. — db.

Beautiful city. What is that building on the lower right that leans at an angle? It's amazing! We have one locally that does so but it is only about 3 stories tall. It's wild to see one so tall! Very nice capture. ~ Lonnit

Nice sky ... crisp lines ... Good that you have written that this is Madrid. Unfortunately, I have never been to Madrid and if not the title I would think that this is some corner from Kuala Lumpur or St. Louis (I have been to both of them) or ... or ...
