Beautiful portrait. The color and texture on the wall are beautiful in themselves but somehow they feel very becoming to this type of guy

Thank you Brian.

Big improvement! Great work and suggestions by all. Brian

Actually, it works for me even if he is centered.
aam1234 08-Feb-2005 16:42
Thank you Pops.

A definite improvement! WTG Aam - Pops

Wish he wasn't at the center.
Nugar08-Feb-2005 16:22
Nice!
Nugar08-Feb-2005 15:36
Nah! You don't need a dictionary, only learning a tool a week and in a short time, you'll be enjoying even more your camera. Also, actions are great, since they come pre-made ;o)
aam1234 08-Feb-2005 15:32
I need a dictionary just to understand these technical terms, have a long way to go in PP (not sure I want to go there though). Thanks again for the help.

I think you can also use the Digital Velvia action I made from instructions found at DPReview, and that are available at Gayle's site too. It won't work as good as Velvia Vision, but then again that guy Fred is a wizard of post-processing where I'm not! Maybe also some of the sharpening actions available at Gayle's. They do help a lot.

Thanks Nugar. I've done it already. It's not as sophisticated as yours, I used rather primitive ways. Check it out after I replace this one (if I know how). Thanks again Nugar for the effort.
Nugar08-Feb-2005 14:49
Yes you can :) Although it of course would be neater if you could duplicate it by yourself. :))
aam1234 08-Feb-2005 14:17
WOW Nugar!! very impressive!! can I use it? you'll get half the credit/votes (if I get any).

Hi again, aam, I took the liberty of post processing the file a bit. Here's the result:http://nugar.com/gallery/displayimage.php?&pos=-2304

What I did: cloned and healed the white areas. The healing is so the cloning is not too evident to the causal observer. Cloned the joint. Then I duplicated twice the background layer and named one Darker and the other lighter. Made some curves adjustments to the lighter one so the guy's exposure was a bit better and then ran it thru my blending action (available thru Gayle's site :))

After that I ran the image thru Velvia Vision, a plugin available from Fred Miranda and finally thru 20D Cs Pro, also available from Fred Miranda. Hope you like the result.

I'd say this shot is a good candidate for digital blending of too raw exposures, one for the wall and one for the guy, who I feel is underexposed. Also, I agree with the cropping and cloning
Rod 08-Feb-2005 08:54
Good catch Pops.
ctfchallenge07-Feb-2005 21:44
And I'd clone out the joint coming straight out of the top of his head! Pops

Thanks Uncle Rod. I thought the whites might jazz up the photo, but I'll certainly try your suggestion. Thanks.

Nice one amm, I would crop so only the orange wall is showing, it makes the subject & shadow stronger for me. Well done
