Well, Mary Anne, I looked at the tutorials chapter "Creating a greetind card" to figure it out. Basicly you use the erase tool to erase portions of the forground image after you drag its layer on the background image. Just occured to me that I could have adjusted the opacity to get a clearer (maybe even precise) idea where to erase, instead of endless experiments...

Oved, I think you're on the right track with this one, but I'd include more of the old photo so that you get a clearer sense of the connection between your mom and her hand. And you're doing better than I am with PSE...I still haven't figured out how to use layers to superimpose (parts of) one image on another. Time for another tutorial from Professor Nugar!

Thank you Pops, Shirley and Walt. I appreciate your comments. I'm still up the steep curve of learning PS, but I'm going to try darkening the white shirts in the first image.

The faces are great in all three. But the most powerful one for me is the original. Did you try darkening the white shirts from the old picture?
In this one I can't tell whether the hand in the old picture is his or hers.
Oved, I hope you are not unhappy with all the comments. I think we are paying attention because of the power of your concept. I like having three versions to discuss. Perhaps you will want to leave only one for the vote. - Walt

Me, too. Nice idea. You can see the love in their faces -- then and now. Shu

I like this one the best of the three.

Yes, I know it is not recommended to put three variations of the same image in one challenge :-) But in Exhibition, I guess the main idea is to learn and share knowlegde. Oved
