For this challenge I tried cropping the photo to only include the two people on the right, but I think the artist on the left adds so much character that I just couldn't leave him out :)

That's pretty impressive Walt! :)
I wouldn't have suspected your version was a 'fix' if I didn't know otherwise - it's definitly more 'compact' and to the point than the original!

OK, apologies for the liberty, but I couldn't help myself. See this image . It's a sloppy job and the composition still isn't right, but at least those people in the background are zapped. - Walt

Thanks for your comments, Walt! Yes, I agree about the background being too busy and I've tried blurring it, but its difficult to get it just right without it looking wrong at least some places.

Yes, the artist on the left is delightful. There are two nice pictures here, but the background is so busy, my eye keeps going to those people in the center. I'm not sure this is a solution, but - how about cropping in close and making two pictures out of it? Maybe matting them together? Another approach - brighten it up, so the artists are better exposed and the background gets real light - see if that changes the emphasis enough. (Then Lonnit can point out the blown highlights.) :-) - Walt
