Shy Girl *

Cleveland Sands Pub Brisbane

A bunch of us were at the pub to watch Josh's band play. I tried to take this girls picy by using the LCD to look the other way with the camera lens pointed at her. But she was on to me as I could see her keep looking into the lens & & quickly looking away she was feeling a little uncomfortable.

Gday Debbi, I can't remember what I used on this I have a free download called Johny's B&W package V2
http://www.jakerlund.net/page.php?id=6
That I sometimes use but sometimes it makes the shot too contrasty. The other way I do it is just select Greyscale or just lower the saturation right down in PS & do a bit of dodging & burning in & it always needs about + 8 contrast & about - 8 brightness.

No I've never met her before but she was with a friend of Josh, my son.............that last bit sounds Jewish dunit:-)

I think the leaning really adds to the shot. I don't think it's titled correctly though. She doesn't look shy to me; she looks like an unsure, insecure-but-trying-to-put-on-a-tough-front teen. She's trying to hide her changing body under baggy clothes, and trying to hide her 'self' under that hat. She seems troubled. The tilt adds to her unease and uncomfortableness in her own skin. Do you know her or is she a stranger? ~ Lonnit

Great B&w shot. I'm not too keen on the leaning posture though. Have you tried to rotate her in an upright position? I think it would make this image much stronger.

Really Mary Anne are you suggesting I manipulate me shots.........I'm shocked
......well maybe a little dodge here & a little burn there:-)

Really nice, Rod. Love the composition, contrast, and texture, but those eyes...ahh, they're something special, and you captured them perfectly. (Maybe a bit of dodging and burning there?)

Rod--This is a striking image! Great leaning pose with nice B&W treatment. The textures are also very appealing. Makes one want to take another look. Shu

I like the light in her face and her eyes. Good shot.
