The Land of Bread

The Land of Bread - NJ

This is my first true attempt to Sureal Photography. I had part of it in my head, the rest was experimental. Some from me some from Dali. In the US - we call money bread, for slang. The main coin on this is the useless Sacagawea, the US's attempt to make pocket change abundant. It looks like a brass quarter. It's face find of smeared in the melted part of it. I made it gold, as it's the univerisal sign of wealth.

Basically this picture shows, people living in bread houses, that's all they can afford. All the riches are outside. There are mixed messages in this as well. The coin is melting, or sitting around, the butterfly, is flying (1 dollar bill for the body). The set was also cheap to make, as everything was from around the house. The sand, glass background, cotton ball clouds, bread, potatoes, coins, money, twig, banana, etc, were all setup shots. The only things I wasn't able to get during this challenge were the doors and windows, which I got last week on vacation. But everything was assembled today so it counts.

Any questions, ask me, perferable on the group, since I try to keep the stats real.

i've done several dozen composite shots. this is the first sureal. i tend to make them elaborate. i don't like simple. simple is boring. this has multiple facets, it's a world of it's own. it has it's own rules and it's own physics. the idea behind all of my things, is that there is plenty to look at. it's not meant, never meant, to be looked at as a whole. what people find busy, i find intresting. as there is alot of things to look at. such as the playing cards, from the last contest.

It's always great to see someone experimenting in Photoshop. It isn't easy to master the techniques for convincing composites on your first try. Perhaps you could consider focusing on just ONE main visual idea and making that work. The current composition is very busy and distracting.
