VeniceToo*

Venice, Italy

This is a *full color* foto; I did not manipulate the colors when postprocessing

OK, Julian, agreed: The umbrella—though an important one to create the mood
of this image—is not a "major" element of the composition here. Therefore,
please do delete this picture if it's not conforming to your rules. Up to you!

Beautiful shot. Lovely tone and romantic setting. Though the umbrella is dark enough that it doesn't distract the eye too much, on the other hand it's a little too dark to be noticable enough to me.

No, they don't. That's the way to learn nothing! :) Hey baby, I plays by the rules. I also can't believe I have to say what I'm going to say. I just came from putting an "unqualified" warning on your produce shot. Now PLEASE tell me you threw that one in there just to test me! You so totally blew my head. I'm agonizing over it b/c I know you hate me from my last challenge when you tried to shnay a spot with an unqualifed entry. ;) The way I see it, is that the rules of the challenges are put up for the purpose of making us think outside our usual boxes. When there are rules, we're forced to think about the shot more. When I'm hosting a challenge I really want people to be able to get out of their comfort zone and try something new. "Finding" a shot is easy. Creating one? That's a whole other ball game!

As for this one, how is it not major? it's THE subject! I love this shot and I'll go to the mat defending it. :) ~ Lonnit

Oh no, Lonnit, personal feelings don't belong here; do they? But in my book you are—at least in your own challenges—one of the strictest rule-enforcers around. And Julian wanted umbrellas to be a *major* element of the composistion. That's all! — db.

Why wouldn't I defend it? It's a great shot! Did you think I was mad at your or something? ~ Lonnit

Now, this is an unexpected defense of my entry, Lonnit! Thanks to you and to Julian for commenting. — db.

Are you kidding Julian? LOL! All the leading lines lead right to the umbrella! :) ~ Lonnit

This is a great image - not really an umbrella shot but still a great image.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, now HERE'S how to use golden tones! Beautiful shot. The tones are just absolutely perfect!!! The textures are wonderful. And you've done a nice proper job of breaking the rule of thirds because you've got enough leading lines to bring the eye to the subject. Marvelous capture!!!! I'm smiling and nodding. ;) Kudos! ~ Lonnit
