No Standing *

Thornlands Brisbane

You lot have a lot to answer for as I dislike the selective desaturation shots. Now here's one from a desperate man. No exif again this is from a raw file.

Pops, in colour the shot looks nothing so I thought how can I make it look next to nothing. My three choices were a radial blur, embossing or some desaturation:-) At the very least it's keeping a place warm for my really terrific shot I will take next week. Nugar, the sign is leaning in real life, like that tower in Pisa:-)

Okay, Rod, it's my turn to beat up on you! My number one pet peeve in photography is a photograph that has been desaturated with some random element left in full color. I don't like them and I'd never vote for one. I'm glad you don't like them either.

First I think the technique is incredibly cliche. It's been over done to death. Second is the elements you left in color make no sense, ie "random." The three spots of red attract my attention, or should I say distract my attention, but do not provide any focus, significance, satisfaction, or unity to the picture. They don't add anything to the picture. Looking at this is IMHO like kissing my sister. Either leave it in full color or commit to B&W.

I might have enlarged the relative size of the sign, but that's me. I like to play with the pictures.

Now, for a sense of fair play, I have to post a picture with a honker frame and a giant intrusive sig (I think ANY sig is intrusive, BTW) so you can rip me back. LOL

Oh, yea, I like the idea here. I caught it immediately. Good capture.

*Now* I get it. I didn't because I haven't previously seen that sign, so I didn't know its meaning. * I'd say crop or obfuscate the license number and rotate a bit so the sign pole is vertical.

The sign in the shot is a no standing sign (it means you can't stop or park there) & I cleverly placed my car right under the sign. Brilliant a. No standing & standing are sort of opposites especially when I have no other shots:-)

Rod I don't get it, what are the opposites here?
