Fringed Gentian *

Little Tom Mountain, Holyoke, Massachusetts

I was at a nature photo workshop sponsored by a local conservation group, and someone pointed these out...said that they're relatively rare. I just hope I remembered the name correctly.

This is a really lovely photo of a beautiful flower.

Are they considered an endangered species? These are near a former ski area where a coalition of environmental groups pooled resources to buy the land from a quarry operator. The small mountain where it's located is such a major feature of the local landscape that I don't see how anyone has the right to destroy it just for the sake of enriching themselves.

Mary Anne,

This is a beautiful shot of a very special flower. The Fringed Gentian is, indeed, a rare native wildflower (in the mid-Atlantic states at least).

Nugar, I always use "save as" after making any changes in PSE, but there is probably something else I should click as well in order to save the EXIF. Of course, it would probably help if I'd read the instructions. More fun to click and see what happens!

I don't remember if PSE has a save for web item in the menu. If it has, then that's the culprit of erasing the exif. Try using "save as..." instead.

I'll have to check in my original file. For some reason, my EXIF data doesn't appear here if I've done anything in PSE, even if it's just cropping.

Great shot, was your G3 in macro mode?
