TBH, I really have no knowledge of minimalism, so this could very well not be. I just went by what was written in the challenge guidelines. I saw other shots with more detail to them so I figured this was probably ok. I am VERY intrigued by the concept of minimalism and do want to explore it more. I see that minimalising shots really defines them and gives them a professional cleanliness and freshness. I like that. If I do some experimenting with minimalism (after I read up on it right now!) I am certain it will help me improve all my shots by really becoming aware of EVERYTHING that is included in the frame, to the finest detail. I've seen how simplifying improves my work. This explains why.

I'm very glad you just started a discussion on minimalism. :-)

Lonnit, this is a nice composition and I happen to like the image very much. I'm just not sure this one falls into the "minimalism" category or not? (Such a fine line :-) In no way am I suggesting this image does not "belong here". K? From a color standpoint, it fits the minimalism definition... like a painter's minimalism painting, with a limited set of colors. From a photographic view of minimalism, my mind tells me if you'd caught the fan blades in motion, thereby minimizing their presence in the image, it might have taken a different turn. Anyway, I guess I just started a discussion on minimalism. :-)

LOL! Funny Shu. This is white bedroom too and white fan. I took several shots, locking exposure on different parts of the frame until the experimenting paid off with this. I shot it last November, so I was only 2 mo into the photog thing. I was very pleased with the results. I guess as far a motion is concerned, turning the fan on could help! LOL! I didn't think to do that. ;) You would have the advantage of being able to change the speed of the fan to help the effect along enough if you can't get the shutter speed where you need it with the exposure you want. ;) ~ Lonnit

Lonnet--We're on the same wave legnth! I looked up in my white bedroom, at the white fan and thought of the challenge. I wanted it with motion, however, but did not know just how to get the shot. Shu
