BBQ

Advertising at its best is a distillation of an idea, service or product to its essence,
with an invitation at its heart.

This ad is about as succinct as it gets.
No subhead. No body copy. No logo or entreaty, coupon or application form.

If you're in the vicinity, you know it's pointing to the beach.
If you're hungry, you know it's down to the sea you must go.

It is painted on a walled compound along a village road
by someone with the artistic sensibility to match the width of his arrow shaft
with the height of his letters.

other sizes: small medium original auto

That reminds me of the guy that had a fish-selling post on an open market. He had a sign: "Fresh fish for sale".

Now comes this... let's say minimalist advertising guru and says: "You know, that sign is wrong"

"How come?"

"You don't sell old fish, right?". The next the sign read "Fish for sale". Along come the guru and says "still wrong". "Why?" "Because you don't come here for fun huh?"

Next day, the sign says "Fish". And of course the guru says: "Still wrong"

"But WHY!?!?!?!?"

"Because you can smell them from a block away!"

:P
