Well, you cropped it perfect to create a nice composition. I understand what you are saying about having enlarged the image area of the hand to the point of losing some sharpness / detail. Isn't it eye opening, when you now realize that shot was sitting there waiting for you to capture... but your eyes would not let you see this the first time around :-) Markjay
Thank you for your comments. I should tell you that this was not a posed shot. I was actually along the sidelines of an anti-war march last April that was making its way through the neighborhoods and businesses north of the White House in Washington, DC. Having tired of shooting the demonstrators, I began to look the other way at the onlookers. There was a cafe where patrons and waitresses came forward to see the demonstration. The cafe opened completely onto the sidewalk. So as people came forward they were well lit against the back drop of the dark interior of the cafe. I liked the lighting and quickly pulled off several shots. A young waitress had come forward and, standing on one of the chairs, gave a peace sign to the demonstrators with outstretched arms. The shot of her was OK, but I really liked the gesture. So I cropped heavily on the hand. And, although the camera has 6.3MP to work with, I think I've pushed it to the limits.
