I think the light changes colour depending where you are....so if you are safely at sea you will sea a white light, if you are getting too near the rocks then you see the red light as warning.

"Longships" is the name of the lighthouse. I was disappointed myself at the red light. If you look closely on the horizon, you can make out another lighthouse "Bishop Rock".

Can't say I've ever seen a red light from a lighthouse before. The darkness of the picture really shows why you need a lighthouse there, but the title? Neil
