Lobelia-bluest of flowers*

Columbus, Ohio USA

An old-fashioned favorite, tiny Lobelia is cherished by many gardeners for its neon-like, nearly translucent color. No other flower can rival its pure blue color. It self-seeds each year, right in the same pot in which it grew the previous year. Creates nightmares, I'm told, for the guys who do 4-color printing of garden catalogs -- very difficult to reproduce. The color looks correct on screen to my eye, however.

Your winters must be milder than ours here in New England because mine seldom re-seed and I'm forced to buy new starter plants each year. However, it's a small price to pay for something I enjoy so much.
