Obviously the flip out screen helped here. Wonderful perspective and gorgeous blue sky background!
Just a small tip on getting your subject lit....rather than use the onboard flash (which tends to give a rather non-dramatic light), try a small hand-held flashlight....the type you use to see in the dark. I carry one in my camera bag and find it invaluable for providing extra light for subjects like this. It helps of course, if you have someone hold the flashlight for you, otherwise try propping it between your feet or your knees and angling it up.
