Nugar, this is our creepy friend from "Luncheonette" isn't it? He's still looking good and is a perfect, colorful fit for this challenge too. What a versatile guy! -Philio Vance

Well, the good thing about this shot is that the spider was more or less bound by the net. So I went and set up my tripod and used the Hoya +1, +2 and +3 close up lenses, with the Lensmate adapter. After that, it was a matter of trying to position the camera as parallel as I could to the spider, since the DOF is so shallow when you use the lenses. I used manual focus and bracketing. Oh and the flash too, with the StoFen diffuser. Then sharpened it on PS.

I think what's most useful is the tripod. Normally, by the time the G3 finally decides to focus on the bug, my hand has already moved!

This is so sharp for a G3, Nugar. How did you get it? Did you use a closeup lens? Sometimes my autofocus (G3) just won't latch on, and with a shot like this, the insect is gone by the time I use manual focus. I think we need another lesson from Dr. Nugar.
