These two girls belong to the Emberá ethnia. The colorful beads they are wearing are mostly for the benefit of the tourists. Normally, they go topless, and in fact wear nothing below the beads. This is normal for all the women in the village. When I asked how old where they, they answered at unison: "14, but we're already mothers", to indicate that they considered themselves fully grown, no kids here.
