Angela's Descent (*)

Harrison Hot Springs

'Angela' has been in my family now for 4 generations. When I carefully unwrapped her to photograph her for this challenge, her broken body, and vacant, glassy eyed stare, reminded me all too well of the many young people I have met during my son's addiction to heroin. Although my son is now well on his way to recovery, many of his friends have not been so lucky. They too, are broken and abandoned.

She really looks like she's calling out for help. Nice image.

Thanks Mary Ann - our son, and family are now doing very well, though it was a long, hard struggle. He's now been clean for 7 months, and we count each day as a blessing. Thanks again - Tracy!

Tracy, I'm sure your son's addiction has been both a heartbreak and an education for you, but you must be so proud of the strength he shows each day as he continues in his recovery. I have been volunteering with women in recovery, and I know that this is not an easy road for anyone to struggle along. It's an experience that makes us look at our values and priorities in a different light. I hope that all of you are now doing well.
