This Spanish fort guarded the mouth of the Chagres River, which was the Caribbean side of the transisthmic route thru Panama that the Spaniards used. Sir Henry Morgan captured it around 1670 on his way to take the City of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción de Panamá, now known just as Panamá City. |
