Nice job. I prefer this version. I also like the choice of subject for the challenge.

I'd like to repeat the the vertical character of the two bell towers works very well with the vertical format. Nice job.

Yes, it is a rather philosphical issue. I do consider it cheating if the picture is photojournalistic. But on other cases, like my rotated anonymous bug picture, for example I just *had* to clone a bit of poop the bug did! Wouldn't look good to me with that piece og buggy-doo (on the other hand... that would have made a better title and pic? LOL!)

I'm glad you like my comments :) Photography is more than thirds and golden means. There's a piece of our soul in each pic.

As an aside topic... what happened to the comments? I would have sworn that Gayle's comment was the very first?

I love the light in this! Was it taken in the late afternoon? Excellent composition too, it works very well in the vertical format.

This is nearly a philosophical question for me and I can't explain my feelings about it (I know there is no logic to it): While I freely play with levels, saturation and sharpening, I'm extremely shy about cloning; my subconsciousness must consider it cheating. I really don't know why.... BTW: I always do apreciate your comments a lot, Nugar; I really do! — db.

Hi Daniel,

I like this picture very much, good compo, good light/colors. As very personal preference, I clone out the birds in this kind of pics. Don't know why. Maybe because in mine they look like specks(sp?) and not birds!

Yes, it was taken in the *very* late afternoon; in fact, shortly before sunset (and then, when postprocessing, I did increase color-saturation quite a bit...). Thanks, Gayle, for commenting. — db.
