I'm with you in that Neil. But the actual background to this flower was my iron fence and the neighbours house, so to keep it simple, well... artificial background!

I'm glad no flowers were hurt. Looks good like this, personally I like to see flowers in a more natural setting, rather than a plain background

Thank you for your kind words, Susan!

Perfect color- I really appreciate that ;-) This is also a very skinny vertical, something that I found a challenge to create from the myriad of croppings that almost all of my images do best at, nice job. Susan

Thanks!

Lovely, simple image and the vertical would grow taller when the final bud bloomed. Gorgeous! Shu

Thanks for your comment Alexeig. I thought the same about that. Leads your sight out of the frame. But the open flowers were fairly down the stalk. I looked today and they don't look as good as they did yesterday :(

Great color balance. The part of the plant which exits the frame from above is a bit distracting, but this is very minor

Very calm and elegent.

Correction: the flash was from *my* left. Also it had a Stofen on.

Thanks Rich :) The white background is a piece of glossy cardboard that my wife held for me. Actually there was another piece to the right and the camera was in such a position that the flash lighted the flower from it's left. So it bounced from everywhere ;)

Excellent picture! How did you get the white background? Rich
