Bananas*

Bananas start life pointing at the ground and quickly rise to face the sunshine.
The black ends on bananas are scar tissue where the banana flower has died and fallen off.
This is an infrared photo so I'll just tell you they're green right now.

Hi Jim... thanks for commenting... I did struggle (well, a little, anyway) with another shot that's closer, plus re-cropping this photo, but ultimately I decided I liked the context of this one. I don't think any version is going to win any prizes, so I might as well go with personal taste. :-)

Don,
I like the framing in this shot. And a lot of nice texture.
But I also see the bananas "popping" out of the photo, and as such, a closer crop might yield a photo with a very different mood.

Hi Nico... thank you... you must have missed my comment... the bananas are green, so it would have been green on green... and while green is my favorite color, there's only so much you want in a single photo. :-)

Hi Paul... just thought I would throw something different into the blender... the framing is about half the value of the photo.

Hi Nugar... thanks for the comment... I live in Hong Kong and this is just one of five bunches of bananas on two large "trees" that I can see from my office window.

hmmmm this might have interesting in color... yellows on greens :-)

but certainly looks good in black and white as well!

The broken stalks frame the bananas very well. The use of IR is intriguing. I'm not quite sure yet how I feel about this image, but it is well-executed as usual.

Good tone distribution. Where on Earth are you that you have bananas?
