Pondering (*)
Fifth Place

Pedregal, Panama

This I consider my best picture of 2003. When I took it, I had just bought my G3 and was beginning the long trek of learning how to use it (I'm still walking that trek). When I saw this picture my jaw dropped.

It is my 8y/o son, Humberto. The pic was taken with available light while he was on a Karate lesson.

Canon PowerShot G3
1/80s f/4.0 at 28.8mm (hand held) full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Very good portrait of your son, his expression shows a great deal of determination and focus.

This is very well composed and a great image of your handsome boy - is he thinking about his next move?:-)...Bee

Thanks both. Imagine how I felt when I got that picture knowing even less than I know about composing a picture (which is very little now to begin with, LOL). My first thought was WOW, this camera certainly takes good pics :)

A beautiful portrait--the lighting, the color, and even the background all add to this picture of a very thoughtful looking boy. I like the "empty" space that takes up most of the right half of the photo. It somehow makes the composition feel more dynamic. --flowersand

This is a truly wonderful portrait. Technically it is perfect and the boy has the most wonderful expression on his face. Great job. Ann C

Thanks! I have since printed it and have it in my living room :) And so far I haven't been able to get a good picture of my daughter... Hmm, maybe I ought to try that for the elegible section...
