Two Trumpets (*)

Moe, Australia.

This is my favourite type of photography....event photography. It's difficult to compose shots when you have no control over the background, lighting, subjects etc. but when I nail a good one, it gives me a real buzz! Taken at the opening of a local 3 day jazz festival.

Heard about this festival on the radio, and thought you might be there! Happy birthday for Tuesday, I'm sure you will love your new toy. I'm told lots of photographers are Pisceans. Neil

Really like this one, the humor of the two horns and the angle of the shot. I have another suggestion similar to Nugar's. Next time you're in a contrasty outdoor situation like this, pop up your flash and use it to add some fill light on your subject. It works best for close up work like this.

I opened this and inmediately "heard" Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. Your photography most definitely conveys a message, not just this one, but also the others I've seen.

I'm by no means an expert, but have you considered this: If you shot RAW, processing it twice, one exposed for the guys and the other exposed for the clouds and then digitally blending them as they explain in Luminous Landscape...?

Great pic!
