Before someone corrected me, I found myself my mistake. This section of the Blue Ridge Parkway is in North Carolina and not in Virginia. It is very close to the Grandfather Mountain (also a very nice place to visit).
The Blue Ridge Parkway receives its name because of the blue cast horizon always seen from here, as in this picture.
