Standing for more than 500 years as the symbol of the city, the "Stari Most" of Mostar was destroyed in 1993 during the civil war. It is currently being rebuilt, with the reopening scheduled for July 2004. The big blocks of stone on the platform at the bottom are parts of the original bridge, and were used in the rebuilding process.
