(My entry for Challenge #47)
Our greyhound, Penny, was rescued from the dog track over three years ago. Since then
she has been a faithful compainon and has become part of our family.
Each year greyhound racing is responsible for the death of an estimated 30,000 dogs. When a greyhound fails to win races, gets injured on the track or reaches the mandatory retirement age of 5 years it is "retired" (given up for adoption or euthanized). Many of these affectionate dogs would like nothing more than to find a good home and speed their way into your hearts.
