Thank you all for the kind words and suggestions.
Gayle: I took 28 shots to get this one, the teams were warming up to there was a lot of action.
Alexeig: great suggestion, I'll try that next time.
Gowan: I don't have noise ninja, or I would have.
Mika: I noticed the yellow cast, but try as I might, I couldn't reduce it.
Thanks again to everyone,
Jim

Unique capture, great action foto and, yes, different point of view. Any reasons for stopping the lens to f4.0 instead of, say, use f2.8 and ISO200?

Great action photo! I haven´t actually done these but I suppose it´s not that easy to do.. I am little bothered by yellowish cast over the picture, not that much of a high iso noise..

Love this shot. Besides the blur and great look of determination, the noise and green frame give it painting look.

For sure a great perspective. I like the motion. Image could benefit from slightly less noise I think. Did you try running it through Noise Ninja (supposed to eat less detail than Neat Image)?

This is an excellent capture! I wanna know how many shots you took to get this one, cos this cannot have been easy. The noise does not bother me, it makes the image look kind of newspaper-ish.

I suspect the high ISO (for a G3) is the reason for the noise/grain, but I think it works with the blur of the motion. The green border, though, looks a little off to me. Guess I was expecting red, or whatever they usually use on a backboard. With the photo cropped around the green, it almost looks the green has been added as a border in post-processing. By the way--great capture. Getting the ball moving through the hoop and the face of the shooter both in the frame is nice trick.

I like it! I like the noise too... makes it look like a drawing. :) ~ Lonnit

Thanks for the suggestions. I did run it through neat image, but didn't like the results, loss of detail in the shooters face. The green square is the shooting square behind the hoop.

Nice creative image. I like the motion blur on the ball, and the fact that you can see the shooter in the top corner. Its a shame about the noise though. Have you tried removing it with software? Other than the noise, I would also fix the perspective of the greenish square so that it was not skewed.
