It looks to me like the sun is already directly behind the bird, but the bird is still evenly exposed because it is in the shade. If moving would change the lighting, you might consider fill flash. Or maybe moving is not the right thing to do in this situation. With wildlife photography, you can't always get the perfect combination of lighting, background, and pose. --Garrett
- If I moved to say the right, so that the greenery gets behind the bird... I had the sun over there and the bird would probably turn out dark? Overexposed leaves? How would that be dealt with?
I thought the background (a kind o palm tree) would work as the simplest background around. But now that you point it, it *is* the same color as the bird!
I have so much to learn yet. Barely a couple of months maybe less dealing with the camera. Comments like yours help a lot. Thanks a lot and keep 'em coming. Happy New Year, Garret!
Good pose, lighting, focus, and exposure. This is all you can hope for shooting small birds. However, the background doesn't work. The bright green is too distracting, and the bird is almost the same color as the tree. Ideally, the green would have been directly behind the bird, but I know you would have scared the bird away if you moved to get that. --Garrett
