Thanks for the comments. It was a dull day and I thought a hand-coloured look would give the picture some interest: the background was desaturated, blurred, and lightly sepia'd while I sharpened the ducks and brought up the colours. I guess to play up a "S"outh theme I could have waited for more snow in the background or hoped to catch them in more of a "V" formation.

Seems like Southbound would be more appropriate than South.

I really like how you captured these birds in flight. Where did you take the picture from?
A cliff or a small plane?
The only thing that bothers me a little bit is that the composition doesn't really tell me
where they are going... south...??? But how could you have shown that better, I really don't
know. You probably had to shoot very quickly, so not much time to think about composition.

This looks a bit over processed to me, there seems to be some sharpening artifacts / haloes. I'm not sure if it's a focus miss or if the shutter speed should be even faster. I like the colourful birds against the muted background.

I love the subject of this one because of my Canadian-ness. The birds are quite sharp and colorful, great job.

Perhaps the background could be changed a bit - be made a bit less hazy/less muted color-wise? (errr...don't take my word on this, only been doing this for a VERY short while, so anyone else feel free to chirp in here and let me know if I'm way off base, or perhaps to offer more concrete help?)
