Wow, nice mood you've set up in this image. The contrast between the silvery strings and the dark guitar is excellent. There is amazing detail in the reflections on the guitar! The blue tone/cast gives the photo a special quality .. not cold but analytically cool. Top job with the lighting and making it into such a nice picture.

"Klyphton TW" - ROTFLMAO! We just keep getting carried further and further away! That's why I love this group!
Seriously, there's a hint of blue in the lighting which I really like. It emphasizes the cold hard steel, it really adds to the mood of the picture. Well done, Gayle
Thanks for your comments, guys. This is the most difficult photo I have ever taken and it's nice to get some feedback on it. The subject (electric guitar) is highly reflective and the only way I could get a pic without showing the surrounds or massive blown highlights was to take it in an almost dark room. Lighting was the Knowles BLF, subdued by the Klyphton TW diffuser (Tupperware bowl ;-)
Once again this challenge has pushed me to my limits and forced me to experiment with lighting and camera settings.

Dorys-- I find dark shots too dark on my work computer (windows/CRT) when they look just fine on my home ones (Mac/both CRT and LCD), so it can definitely make a difference where you're viewing things. You might try adjusting brightness on the laptop, or even calibrating it, and seeing whether that makes a difference. Then again, maybe it's just personal preference, and your opinions are as valid as anyone's.
Not to contradict the pros... but personally, I'd like to see a few more bananas on the subject. Everything else about perspective and mood is wonderful...just a bit dark in my opinion... but that could be my laptop. :-)

This is beautiful. The dark tones and reflections work really well together. I especially like how the strings make you think of power lines, reinforcing the challenge topic. Lots of great things about this one.
Simply superb. Moody and well lit. Is this the Knowles lighting rig again? Looks slightly different for some reason. Great viewpoint you've chosen for this. A top photo for sure.
