Edison's Dream *

Medina, Minnesota

My intent with this shot was to show the filament structure of today's bulbs. I backlit a white sheet to bring out the highlights and reduce reflections.

I like this very much Jim. I like the detail you got inside the bulb. I find it interesting to compare this one with the old ones I photoraphed. The bulb has gotten much more complex over time but the basic shape is the same. Ann C

Very clean, very smooth, very detailed. I think it's technically great. Nice job!

I love the simplicity and the ability to see all of the internal structure of the bulb perfectly. I am envious of the pure white background because that is something I haven't yet been able to do.
A very nice shot!

Indeed this does stand out as not being the sort of image normally associated with you.

Paul, Thanks for the nice words. I try to keep practicing when I can find the time, trying to improve a little at a time. I just finished reading John Shaw's book, Nature Photograph -- Field Guide. I picked up some good pointers on close-ups. I'd recommend it to everybody as a very good book.

Jim, very nice. This stood-out from the crowd for me, I guess I like the high key style and it is very simple and sharp. I have to say I think this is one of the best images I've seen of yours.
