Paul, you've got night neon down perfectly... this and "Giant Robot" are very striking shots... you're not going to see these in Peoria. Don

Gayle and Jim, thanks for taking a look and for your comments. The lesson in Aussie slang is hilarious, and interesting to know how a word can mean such different things in different countries.
I hand-held the shot and underexposed about one f/stop to avoid burning out the highlights. This also gave me a little faster shutter speed.
Los Angeles is full of interesting businesses. For example, there's Rent A Wreck, a car rental. This is DEFINITELY truth in advertising. I may enter this in the exhibition category if I can get a good shot.
I will say that LA must have a lot of creative signs. I like this one. At 1/40 sec, did you hand hold the camera, or use a tripod? Either way, nice and sharp without blowing out the lights.
Hahaha, this one will give the Aussies a chuckle. A few years back (ok, a few decades ago) there was a very high profile advertising campaign for a non-alcoholic drink called Claytons. It was "the drink you have when you're not having a drink". The word "claytons" is now part of the Aussie slang and used to describe something that is not what it seems.
Great pic, and it gave me a laugh!
