Fortune Cookie
*

China

My best ever fortune cookie story: I had just spent twelve hours driving from Atlanta to Detroit to visit my mother. We went out to dinner at her favorite Chinese restaurant. After dinner I opened my fortune cookie and it said, "You will make a long journey and receive a fortune!" I was amazed! I had just made the long journey and I was holding the fortune in my hand! LOL!

I've adjusted the background a bit. It does look better! Thanks, Paul, for the suggestion.

The picture was taken outside in total shade, on the patio under my deck. I did that so there would be no harsh shadows. As a result there was a slight blue cast to the picture that the "cloudy" white balance in the camera didn't eliminate. I had to do a bit of color balance in PSE. The background is a piece of white poster board 22x28 (55cm x 70 cm) curled from the horizontal to the vertical to give me a seamless background. There's not much balance work in getting the cookies to stack as they were pretty stable.

I may play around with it some more to lighten up the background.

And thanks for the comparison to ISO! I'm flattered.

Good concept in a tough challenge. What's the background, a roll of paper or something? Guess you've taken this near a window? I think the arrangement is good, must of taken some balancing!

Yes, I think perhaps the high key Iso style is creeping I know I've been influenced by it. If that was the goal, the white background etc. is kinda off-white which makes it look a bit flatter IMHO, but still a very nicely composed and taken image.

Now I was certain this was an Iso image before I looked at the big picture! Some of his influence creeping in, maybe? Very nice pic and they look good enough to eat!
