Happy Little Vegemite *

Hindmarsh Valley, South Australia

The national food of Australia. A uniquely Australian yeast extract. Almost everyone I know from other countries why have tried it think it is disgusting. It must be an aquired taste, as our kids grow up with it.

Cropped, a fence in the background cloned out, unsharp mask, background blurred.

What a cute pic and Vegimite is definately an aussie icon! I came from England and discovered you spread it thinly and it isn't bad with cheese sandwiches! My 9 year old however is a born and bred Aussie (Dad is a 5th Generation or something) and she plies it on THICK! Disgusting. Has to be something only a true Aussie would love.

Nasty stuff, but good photo despite that.

This looks a bit like Marmite which we have in the UK, also a yeast based slop. Mrs iso loves it, I hate it. Your looks the same colour, similar jar, and leaves the same sort of marks on small boys faces ;-)

Yummmm...the healthfood of a nation! Good stuff, Vegemite. Specially on toast. Good photo too, Neil, your boy looks like he loves his Vegemite!

LOL, I just tried vegemite the first time a couple weeks ago. Have a neighbor from Australia and when I asked to try something distinctly Aussie he came back with vegemite. I wasn't disgusted by it, but certianly not my first choice for a bread spread! -Jason-
