"Love you Mum" *

Hindmarsh Valley, South Australia

I couldn't get very close - this was cropped but not resized. Horse in background cloned out, minor levels adjustment.

Canon PowerShot S45
1/200s f/4.9 at 21.3mm full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Hi Paul. This is a fairly small part of the centre of the picture as it came out of the camera. It has been cropped (since the rest of the frame was uninteresting and distracting), but not resized at all - no interpolation/digital zoom at all.

Neil, are you saying you 'zoomed and cropped' in PS ? Effectively 'digital zoom' ? That would explain it I think. Nice image otherwise. Paul D.

Probably not camera movement at 1/200 and with the standard lens.

Thanks for the comments. The edge of the mare over her back looks a bit funny since I cloned out another horse (I'm very new to photoshop). This crop is 1/16 of the original frame, so the horses were a long way away. If I got any closer the horses would stop what they were doing and look at me. I think the softness is probably due to camera movement?

It's a sweet shot, but cropped in like this the photo suffers, especially around the edges of the horse. I'm not sure if it's JPEG artifacts, oversharpening, or focus problems, but the edges of the horse really stick and say DIGITAL.
