A grumpy person is usually a bad subject, but it works here. I wonder how a shot showing more of the face/eyes would look?

Same kid, different day! Tired and grumpy after a long day at her friends house and she did NOT want to go to bed. Major tantrum, good photo opportunity! LOL! She fell asleep in the chair about 3 minutes after I took this shot. Gayle

Now maybe the kid in your exhibition shot wanted to be photographed, but this one definitely looks like she's avoiding the camera. Nice to see what can be done under those conditions. This conveys a remarkable amount of emotion, especially considering how little face, and no no eyes, you can see.
