Early Autumn Color

Medina, Minnesota

I caught this sugar maple in my yard as the sun was setting, with just the upper leaves illuminated with the sunlight.

I did not use a polarizer for this one. The sun was pretty low in the sky, and I'm not sure it would have effected the sky much, though the angles were about right. I don't believe it would have effected the leaves much at all - the reds are dry, and the greens are in the shade. I also did not want a really blue sky, I wanted the tree and leaves to be the main draw for the eye. Maybe I'll try one this weekend just to see the effect.

Maybe the colors would have been a little richer with a polarizer (or did you use one)?

Pops,
Thanks for that note. I'll look closer next time.

Jim, If you "edit" the image in PBase, at the bottom you can do an update which keeps all the comments. I still like how the leaves transistion from bright red to more and more green, winter is coming!
