I usually never do it, but this one was a planned exercise in lighting. The sun was just beaming through the window and I placed the bowl on the floor and aranged some furniture to create the shadows. Spot metering on the lightest point of the top apple reduced the exposure to get the rest nice and dark.
Yes it doesn't shout love and I know I have no chance against some of the wonderful entries in this challenge. I could say I love this photo (which is true :D ) but I'm crazy about apples anyway.

Nice picture. I like the shadows and light - very moody. Did you just find it like that or did you arrange in front of a blind or something ? I like the colour of the apples but also think this would look good in black and white too. The picture alone doesn't shout 'love' at me like some in the challenge do - but you've said that you love them and I guess that was the point of the challenge.
