Sunflowers?

Anaheim, CA

Shot from my reef aquarium, these little zoanthid polyps are about the size of a pencil eraser in diameter. Believe it or not, these coral polyps are actually animals. Zoanthid corals do not have a hard calcarious skeleton however. The vibrant orange color really shows under the intense lighting of the reef. The lighting was metal halide reef lighting at 10000K.
