Thanks sweet Shu, Penny & Tommy:-) I really like your description Penny it makes me like the picy a bit more. I don't think it was my skills Tommy, I think the secret was using the long lens so I didn't have to zoom very much to get a biggish effect. As we get older we tend to find the easiest way to do things a. I just had the camera on a tripod (dirty word) & used the self timer with the zoom on 200mm (300mm plus on a crop camera) & held the tripod with my right hand & my left on the zoom ring so I minimised any movement of the camera/tripod. I watched the reflection of the little self timer light flashing slow on my zoom hand & when it flashed really quick I started the slow zoom just before the shutter opened. The hardest part of this picy was because of watching the flashing self timer light I started to get flashbacks to the 60s:-)

You've got the touch for zoom effects or is this a revival of old, well practiced skills? -tv

the bw contrast is terrific and the effect is almost like looking through shattered glass. Beautiful. Penny Street

Excellent Rod. It leaves no doubt that we are looking at art, not camera shake, which kind of seems to be the theme these last couple weeks. -Doug

Nice? NICE?? This is way beyond nice, this is a "walk toward the light" picture. Perfect merger of repetition, scale, light and effect. To me, this looks like 'the Gospel according to Rod'. Fabulous picture. I didn't want to praise it so much because each time I do that to a pic it seems to land in pending lol. But I can assure you I'll vote for this one. They don't get much better in my book.

Nice flower shot Rod but maybe you need to get out of your yard with, or without, that tripod! :-) CJ

One more thing.. the light here is most unusual from you and just wonderful, very attractive. I wouldn't have guessed this was yours. Nice sample of "well blown highlight".
