thanks Doug and Kiki - I did it. That's what I said. I like the colors - I didn't try these very pictures at this very time of day with this very light and the polarizing filter at a shorter exposure. So - I can't say if it would have been better, but I can guess that it probably wouldn't have been worse.

All three very nice shots, beautifully processed, and this is the most "Penny'ish", highly decorative pattern and colors. The ivy shot is surprisingly sharp, and CP filters work great on foliage. But I can't help thinking that they all might have been even better with shorter exposures. Not sure the time aspect really added to the picture or was a deed of necessity. Anyhow: Well done :)

There must have been zero breeze that afternoon because it's plenty sharp for a 1 second shot. The challenge for me has been to come up with a good reason to shoot with a slow shutter speed. Yes YB, good question. -Doug

You're asking all the right questions, YB. Penny Street

Penny I am left with one question - was this taken at 1s just to comply with the Challenge rules, or was there a creative reason for the time setting?

I have the same problem with my cheap tripod. The dang thing is hard to adjust and compose images and at the same time trying to focus properly and get the exposure right. The colors and raindrops look nice but maybe could use a little more PP to brighten it up? CJ.

I can't compose at all with the tripod. The stupid thing keeps moving. Penny Street

Nicely done Penny we have rain today too. Did you find you took more care with your composition using the tripod or do you feel better able to compose without one?

Thanks Troy and Mary Anne. I turned the IS off and used a tripod. It was quite a production. Penny Street

Penny, did you break down and use a tripod? The flowers are beautifully sharp here. Or is this simply the result of IS?
